One of the best things about hosting my weekly internet show is getting to connect with people from all over the country. I think people connecting with people is one of the greatest human cravings and when we satisfy that hunger, great things can happen!
As my show was first launching, some mutual fans connected me to a band called The Iveys. They are a three part family unit (one brother and two sisters) out of Texas that have perfected what I like to refer to as “California Country” (think The Eagles or Crosby, Stills and Nash or even the new discs from Ashley Arrison and Josh Kelley). Arlen’s vocals are coated with a perfect layer of Rob Thomas, while the powerful harmonies from Jill and Jessica result in a Lady Antebellum / Fleetwood Mac marriage.
Last Friday, they played their first ever show in Los Angeles at The Mint and I was there front and center, bouncing my head and smiling like Carol Brady watching her kids perform as The Silver Platters. Their set was tight and their harmonies in sync. They’re professional and polished beyond their years and played the room full of drifters the same as if it were a packed house of fans. I keep saying that if I were given my own television talk show, they would be my first choice to hire as my house band. Their musicianship, passion for what they’re doing and positive energy are infectious and is near impossible not to connect with when you see them on stage doing their thing. And isn’t connection what it is all about?
Be sure and check out their website: TheIveysMusic.com and download their CD on iTunes (seriously, it is only $8!). The couple of dollars you spend means a lot to them, so you are supporting an awesome band as well as some well-deserving dreamers, not to mention you get a great new collection of music!
